Kernel Festival
Villa Tittoni, Desio, 2011
In Desio, in the province of Milan, Villa Tittoni hosted an audiovisual mapping by InSynchLab for the Kernel Festival. Sound design is by Chris De Rosa and Limulo Lab. For Andrea Carpentieri it was one of the first media art festivals he took part in. The Kernel Festival, in its first edition, in 2011, was held in the nineteenth-century villa, which also houses a museum and a library, with its pediment, columns and sculptures set against the walls.
The ten-minute mapping is titled “Evo” and tells the evolution of the building over time: stone attacked by time and weather, cracks, structural decay, a war with explosions and climbing ivy growing upwards, as nature’s intrusion into architecture. The passing of time is rendered with time-lapse footage of sunlight; the content was made with Cinema 4D.
