Focara di Novoli 2021

In Novoli, the façade of the church standing in front of the focara is the screen for a narrative projection mapping on the story of the saint at the heart of the event’s tradition. It is a 3D animated short film projected onto the façade. Andrea Carpentieri produced it as 3D animator and video projection technician, with Insynchlab.

The feast is that of Saint Anthony the Abbot, patron saint of Novoli, and in 2021 it was held without an audience, in the square in front of the sanctuary, because of Covid-19 restrictions. The event, titled “Libera nos: il dolore, la preghiera, la speranza”, was conceived for television and broadcast live on Antenna Sud, with artistic direction by Tonio De Nitto and executive direction by Mirko Piro.

The projection mapping, curated by Insynchlab and titled “Le fascine della memoria”, retraced the rituals of the saint and of the fòcara and celebrated the birth of the rite through historical testimonies collected from the Novoli community.
